Vegan Bacon
Vegan smoky bacon strips are the perfect side dish to your breakfast or brunch. They also make a wonderful BLT (bacon, lettuce, tomato) sandwich or bacon butty! Or chop them up and use them in a salad, on pasta, in a vegan quiche, etc.
We make our vegan bacon with a base of wheat gluten and chickpeas, with many flavoursome additions such as soy sauce, nutritional yeast, liquid smoke, smoked paprika, and much more! The bacon is pre-cooked, so it can be eaten cold if desired. But it is recommended to pan fry for extra flavor, crispiness, and chewiness.
Directions: Heat 1 tablespoon of oil in a frying pan over medium high heat. Add several strips of bacon and cook for about 2-4 minutes, flipping several times, until as crispy as desired (as it cools it gets more crispy, so keep that in mind). Remove from pan onto a plate with paper towel. You can also bake these in the oven or air fryer. Lay out on the pan and spray or brush with oil. Bake at 180C for 5-10 minutes (they get crispier after they cool down).
